Pro-Palestinian demonstrators dragged residential garbage bins into the street near Southbank, Melbourne, overturning one and scattering trash across the roadway. The action triggered internal conflict among protesters, with participants shouting insults at each other and a brief physical altercation breaking out between those who supported the disruption and those who opposed it. As I photographed the scene, one protester — identifiable by a whistle hanging around their neck — directed verbal abuse toward me, objecting to the act of documenting the incident.
