About
Artssie is an independent photography platform by Australian-based photographer Frahad Rajabali, with a background in documentary, news photography, and visual arts.
My work focuses on real people, real places, and real events. I am drawn to street photography, social movements, and long-form documentary projects that explore everyday life, public space, and moments of collective experience.
I work as a professional photographer with a strong interest in documenting the social, political, and cultural realities of different societies and countries. My approach is rooted in direct observation and visual reporting, without manipulation, staging, or personal advocacy. I aim to document events and lived experiences as they unfold, with respect for context, accuracy, and the integrity of the moment.
I was born in Iran in 1976 and began my artistic path at an early age, studying drawing and painting before pursuing formal education in visual arts and graphic design at the University of Art in Tehran. Alongside my studies, I entered the field of journalism and worked extensively in Iranian print media for more than sixteen years, primarily as a graphic designer and editorial contributor, while also working actively as a photojournalist.
My work has been published internationally, and my photography from significant social and political events — including the 2009 Tehran street protests — has appeared in major international media outlets. I have collaborated with news organisations and publications across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States as an independent photographer.
Artssie was created as a space to present and distribute my photographic work directly, outside conventional stock-photography models. Most digital images on this site are offered for editorial use, while selected works are available as fine art prints.
